Special Forum on AI in Education: Embracing Opportunities, Building Safeguards · 13 November 2026, Auckland
About the Forum
Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping education. Generative and agentic AI are creating new opportunities for teaching, learning, assessment, student support, and educational innovation. At the same time, they raise important questions around academic integrity, reliability, privacy, equity, over-reliance on AI, and the changing roles of educators and learners.
As educational institutions move from debating whether AI should be used to deciding how it should be used responsibly and effectively, KSS 2026 invites educators, researchers, academic leaders, practitioners, and students to contribute to this special forum. The forum brings together practical experiences, emerging ideas, institutional responses, and research perspectives around two complementary questions:
How can we make positive and effective use of AI in education?
What safeguards are needed to manage its risks and protect the quality and integrity of education?

Abstracts are expected to address, but are not limited to, the following areas:

What We Are Looking For
This forum encourages discussion and exchange rather than only completed research. Submissions may present:
Research Findings
Research findings or work in progress.
Teaching Practices
Innovative teaching practices or case studies.
Policies & Initiatives
Institutional policies or initiatives.
Lessons Learned
Practical experiences and lessons learned.
Position Statements
Position statements or emerging ideas.
Open Challenges
Challenges that deserve wider discussion.
Accepted contributors will be invited to give a short presentation during the forum, followed by an interactive discussion with other participants. Forum abstracts are non-proceedings contributions intended to stimulate interdisciplinary discussion and exchange at KSS 2026.

Abstract Submission
Please submit a short abstract (300–500 words) describing the issue, initiative, experience, or perspective you would like to share, together with the title, author name(s), and affiliation(s).
Submission system: Forum abstracts must be submitted via the Microsoft CMT conference management system.
Acknowledgement: The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.
